Thanks to everyone who made this year's West Coast Triple
a big success!! If you worked one or more of the clubs during this event see the information below
to find out how to get a special WCT QSL card or WCT certificate or T-shirt transfer. We are already
looking forward to the next big club event in the near future. VY 73!
Click here to see the schedule of ops from each club
who worked the 1999 West Coast Triple.
FISTS Northwest, K7FFF, the Vista Valley FISTS CW Club, K6FFF,
and the Cowlitz FISTS Club, WA7YYY, are teaming up
for this special event on September 11th, 1999. We will cover 3 bands, plus the Novice segment
on 15 meters. We will exclusively operate 15 meters during the morning hours to allow European FISTS a
chance to join in (and during the remainder of the event, of course). Even if you aren't a
FISTS member yet, you can get a head start on FISTS
points that you can apply after you become a FISTS!
Work all three clubs and receive (in addition to 9 FISTS points total!)
a personalized 1999 WCT Certificate with
your name and callsign. This certificate will be issued to FISTS and non-FISTS alike.
This year you have three options for how you receive your WCT Certificate:
- Send an SASE with 2 oz. of postage (non-USA ops send enough to cover international postage)
- Request your certificate by e-mail and accept e-mail delivery FREE!
- Send $3.00 and receive a T-shirt transfer of your certificate post-paid (non-USA ops may send equivalent postage or IRCs).
You may, of course, order a T-shirt transfer in addition to one of the first two options.
Special WCT QSLs will also be issued in return for your card. Donations to offset printing costs are, of course, greatly appreciated.
Following are the rules and procedures for all participants in the WCT:
- Dates and Times
-
Saturday, September 11th, 1999.
12 hours total from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM PDT
(UTC: 1500Z Sept. 11 to 0300Z Sept. 12)
- Band coverage
- 15 meters exclusively from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (PDT)(European FISTS take note!).
40 meters, 20 meters, 15 meters General and 15 meters Novice
from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM (PDT)
Clubs will try to call
near a FISTS frequency (ending in .x58, and on the Novice segment
near 21.108), but may be anywhere in the band segments. A schedule
of operators and bands will be posted here close to event time.
The goal is to have one operator from each club per band segment at any given time.
A schedule of operators for each club will be updated here.
- Calling
- Exchange
- FISTS Members: RST, name, state, and FISTS number.
- Non-FISTS Members: RST, name, state.
- Clubs will give RST, name, state, and club FISTS number. Note that
the clubs cover 6 states in total (WA, OR, CA, ID, NM, AK).
- We want to encourage inexperienced as well as experienced operators
to participate and keep this a low-key event. This is NOT a contest,
the clubs are not competing and no multipliers or such are used. Please
feel free to ragchew, but keep it brief to give as many FISTS members as
possible a chance at earning the club points and the WCT certificate.
- All due courtesy will be given to QRP'rs and Novices!!
- QSLing
- FISTS Members: Please QSL via the FISTS buro, K4UK.
This will save a lot of confusion and be the most efficient for everyone.
- Non-FISTS: Please QSL directly to a club call that you worked and include an SASE.
Requests for the WCT Certficate must be made
to K7FFF by regular mail or e-mail
(mailing address: 5466 SE Patterson St., Hillsboro, OR 97123).
You have three options for the WCT Certificate:
- Send an SASE with 2 oz. of postage (non-USA ops send enough to cover international postage)
- Request your certificate by e-mail and accept e-mail delivery FREE!
- Send $3.00 and receive a T-shirt transfer of your certificate post-paid (non-USA ops may send equivalent postage or IRCs)
Of course, you may buy one T-shirt transfer in addition to a paper or e-mail certificate.
Club Members Only
- Call: "CQ WCT".
- Respond with RST, name, state, and your club's FISTS number. Be
your own judge as to how much you want to ragchew, but be aware that
there may be others waiting to collect your club number and state.
- Direct all contacts to "QSL via FISTS buro", period. This saves
a lot of confusion and will be the most efficient. The drawback, of
course, is that the club QSL managers have to sort out the cards
and logs, but that is probably the best way in any case.
- WCT club members use only your club call.
No doubling on personal calls (e.g. K7FFF/NA7U).
No other FISTS #s besides the club number, (e.g., FISTS Northwest nr 4400).
- Call near a regular FISTS frequency (ending in .x58) where possible.
- Please resist band-jumping even if your assigned band segment and time
seems not very productive. Ops may miss you or we may end up doubling the
same call on the same band, causing confusion. Thanks!
- All courtesy to QRPrs and Novices means really trying to dig
them out when their signal is weak and get the full exchange. Keep your
ear out for slow fists and QRS for them.
- Keep a written log that will be sent to each Club Event Manager .
These are needed to verify applicants for the WCT Certificate and
individual QSL cards.
- Have lots of fun!! Also, keep in mind any improvements for next year.
